15 Ways to Relax

  1. Turn off all devices and PUT THEM AWAY!

  2. Listen to calming music. Classical music does it for me.

  3. Essential oils can help you relax. Oils such as lavender, geranium, clary sage, rose absolute, or mandarin have a calming effect. Rather than using candles, reed or electronic diffusers are the safest option.

  4. Fresh air – get outside or open the windows.

  6. Have lunch away from your computer or desk.

  7. Have a cup of tea (or your favourite beverage) and just sit. Do you ever do this? No typing, no checking your phone, or looking at the news, and no leaving the tea to become lukewarm whilst you get on with five other things. Just sit.

  8. That leads on nicely to Me Time. Spoil yourself with a bath, start (or finish) that book you keep putting aside.

  9. Exercise. This does wonders for body and mind and can help you feel set for the day.

  10. Mood lighting - create a relaxing ambience with lamps or dimmed lights rather than strong overhead lighting.

  11. Have a no TV night. Perhaps chat or play a game. (This one is hard if like us you're a box-set junkie and have limited free evenings).

  12. Pet your pet. Being around animals has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety in people.

  13. Treat yourself to a relaxing therapy or treatment.

  14. Potter in the garden or plant a pot; nature is a great relaxer.

  15. Laugh!
